on the evening of thursday, february 15th, i met sun and selena in downtown seoul and we went to this fantastic samgyetang restaurant nearby city hall. according to them, current and former korean presidents favor that place for this delicious chicken and ginseng soup. i could understand why, it was really delicious, and from the décor i could imagine that place had been there for quite a long time.

sun and selena were teachers in the private institute i taught at during my first year in korea, and this was our last time to have a chance to hang out before i left korea. after dinner we went to a local starbucks and just chatted for a while. selena is a very atypical korean, she is kind of blunt and sometimes tells some funny stories about fighting with her husband and things like that. what makes it really funny is selena is not really fluent in english so she'd start telling a story and sun would be translating into english, but then selena would say something shocking and sun would be too embarrassed to translate it.
