before coming back to america, i wanted to meet again with the friendly team of people at rough draft korea animation studios that i had worked with last summer. on monday, february 12th i went down and met them for dinner at a thai-chinese fusion restaurant. it was a little sad because i had been helping them learn flash with the hopes of them getting an opportunity to animate on my friend jorge's new show at nickelodeon, el tigre. but we were disappointed when we found out that they'd decided to go exclusively with another studio in ireland, so we felt like although we'd worked hard it hadn't paid off. when i went back to visit them again, they were all back doing traditional animation, but hopefully sometime in the future they'll get to put their newly acquired flash skills to good use.

in the back from left are director shin and director yoo. in the front are animator miss jung, the tech specialist, and myself. another animator, miss na had left rdk for a while and didn't make the dinner.
from left: yeonhwa, head of the translation department, and directors shin and yoo
from left: miss jung in the shadow, the tech guy, and youngwon, an excellent translator
everyone was really nice to me all along, and it was fun seeing them again after not meeting for around three or four months. they were even so kind as to give me a gift of a really nice traditional tea set. i haven't gotten a picture of it yet, but i will in the near future and post that up here. now onto the meal we enjoyed that night.
pad thai
breaded pork
i liked these side dishes, especially the one on the right
these spicy shrimps were huge and delicious
some great spicy chicken
all in all the food was really good, but perhaps because of the fusion with chinese food it was a bit greasy. everything tasted great but that was the only downside to it.
