after leaving the pohang beach front and hilltop park, sunam and i caught a bus to downtown pohang to look around there.
downtown pohang
we were ready for a snack, so we stopped for 떡볶(ddeokbokki, rice cakes in spicy sauce)
a main street in pohang's shopping district decorated for winter
pohang's marketplace alleys were typical of others i've seen all over korea
pohang is right on the ocean, so as you can imagine seafood is a large part of their economy. and so also there is a large outdoor seafood market there that we walked around.
lots of water tanks and small seafood shops lined this street
your guess is good as mine as far as exactly what these apparently edible sea creatures are
once in a while these crabs would open their mouthparts and gasp for one last breath
a tub of squid
rows upon rows of drying fish racks
a motorbike zooming through the seafood market
shoppers bustling through the market looking for the freshest catch
more fish for sale
we walked out of the market and walked towards this bridge
these boats reminded me of my grandfather who once worked on a tugboat
me on the bridge with the pohang seafood market area behind me
sunam on the bridge
the late afternoon sun reflecting on the water
