i left litza's house in astoria early on the morning of tuesday, january 2nd and caught a bus towards manhattan. it was interesting to compare and contrast riding a bus in new york city with riding them in korea, as i've done almost daily the past two years. the bus took me into harlem and right past the world famous apollo theater. from there i caught a train uptown and got off at 168th street in washington heights. from there it was a short walk to meet up with friend meghan, who is living in the area while working towards her masters at columbia.
we swung by the market and picked up a few things, then went back to her apartment for breakfast of fruit, bagels, and coffee. it was our first time meeting since our adventures traveling through thailand last august, and it was great catching up on what's been going on since.
meghan has a really cool apartment, technically i suppose it is a studio, but it felt like a one bedroom to me. you enter into a hallway, on your left first is the bathroom, then a small kitchen, and finally it opens to a back room that meghan has set up so her bed is on the right, a desk to the left of that, and finally a living room area on the left side of the room, which also accesses the kitchen. it was very comfortable and just the kind of place i would like to have myself.
we had a very nice chat while enjoying our breakfast. meghan and i are both chatty, so there's always lots of lively conversation. we've also known one another pretty much since forever so we can talk about everything from our families (and how nutty they can be) to our experiences in the high school we went to, and so on. i felt bad, however, since it was my fault that we only had a couple of hours to hang out (see following post). but i think we still managed to catch up a lot, and i even managed to get some shots of her and her cool place.
