to my dear friend charles: please don't read this post. anyway, so yeah, i ate dog and it was yummy. saturday, april 29th i met ally and her husband and daughter at ì‚¬ë‹¹ì— (sadang station) and we walked to the restaurant. ally's parents were already there and the meal was already cooking. ally's husband, whose english name is chris, showed me how to eat it. first, the meat was prepared in a kind of soup with vegetables.
as you can see, it is a dark meat, and the texture of it was really soft and tender. the way to eat it was to take a piece of the meat and some vegetables and dip them in another sauce. like i said, it was yummy.
all in all, it was just like any other meaty meal, and i'm pretty sure that anyone who likes meat would like the taste of it. that being said, it's obviously not for everyone. i personally never had a dog as a pet so it wasn't any real emotional issue for me.
i do want to mention that not all koreans like this, and a lot of them have never even tried it. older koreans tend to like it, and many of them swear that it's really good for your health. i'd also like to remind any dog lovers out there that i didn't eat your dog so please don't be mad at me. eating this dish was more about being in korea and trying what some koreans enjoy. it's the same reason why i earlier tried live octopus. i can also say i'm glad i tried it, and i'd definitely try it again.
